Everythings Going My Way!
Mostly. I'm still very busy but stuff has been going on in the Grounded Family.
Yes it has!
Last month Middlest turned 21 and kicked her loser fiancé out! The most recent in a string of douchebags. She literally kicked him out. In the middle of the night. When she woke up to find him, their female roommate and a couple they were friends with cavorting drunk in their underwear in her living room. She kicked them all out into the street in their underwear. The other day when he still hadn't picked up all his stuff she threw his stuff out too. Literally out the door and into the yard. Maybe turning 21 was the secret charm. Maybe she finally grew up. Of course she's choosing to struggle along trying to pay all the bills herself instead of coming home to re-group and get ahead. Why? Because she's daughter : ) But that's ok. I'm proud of her.
And Littlest turned 19! And she's coming home on leave! Yay! Only 7 days but I'll take what I can. She graduated with Honors from her 1st phase of job training. We're very proud. They offered her the opportunity to continue an extra 6 months in more advanced technical training for a job that was highly likely to keep her in the States instead of God knows where. And She Turned It Down! Why? Because she's My Daughter. Right now she's getting ready for a second phase of training before she begins her career. Because she did well she also was offered a wish list of 3 permanent duty stations. Did she choose the one we can drive within a day to visit? NO! She chose all the way across the country in California. Do you know why? Because she is a huge John Steinbeck fan and wanted to see the Salinas Valley because of a book. I deeply love East of Eden myself but I think you can take being a fan a little too far. But after all, She's My Daughter. There is no guarantee she will get her wish. Please join her mother in prayer that I'll get my way instead : )
And Biggest wants everyone to go here http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/get-my-photo-into-the-yearbook and sign the petition so this young man can have his cat, Mr. Bigglesworth, in his senior yearbook portrait.
Why? Because she's My Daughter. How can I not be proud of that? : )
Why not? Let's help everything being going his way too : )
Now ready? Sing! Oh what a beautiful morrrrnnning...oh what a beautiful daaay...I've got a beautifuuulll feeling....

What I Raised
Texts from my adult daughters. Because I'm really not that interesting and this is still what my life revolves around. But it's kind of fun to realize that though they're grown and on their own they are very much the same people I started my original blog with in 2009.
My youngest is attending a multi armed forces training facility. She is living in a dorm with a handful of other female Marines as well as Navy and Army students. They are all there for serious study much as they would be at a college and are expected to show the highest level of maturity and professionalism. My daughter comes by this naturally. Though it's true that she has changed in that her self assurance has become even stronger. She is a very serious minded young lady who...has a secret penchant for frivolity. I worried that she would lose this little piece of herself within the important nature of her future. I hear nothing about the skills they are learning but the other day we exchanged these messages.
Lit: Half my clothes keep getting stolen
Me: How?
Lit: at the laundry
Me. You need to stay with it.
Lit: I don't have time. I have classes and other important sh- to do.
3 tank tops and on a creepy note, two pairs of brand new underwear from Victoria's Secret which were expensive as hell and who the ever loving F--- would take someones panties? that's disgusting.
I refrained from asking why she needed VS underwear and if she was wearing it under her uniform...
Lit: And it's Navy girls stealing this sh--
Me: You can't trust anyone. You need to watch it.
Lit: I don't trust anyone but it's not my room mates it's the Navy girls on our floor. we're the only Marines. Everyones sh-- has gone missing since last week.
Me: Call the MP's..haha don't hit me..
Lit: Army is worse but they have yet to steal my panties The Navy has No Standards. They are HEINOUS
Me: Just make sure your panties aren't run up the flagpole.
Lit: Wouldn't be a problem if they were-they were cute as all hell..
Yeah...that's my girl...
My Oldest is a Mama now but still takes time to consider the world around her.
Biggest:
What are these things? The big one is the Momma and she's had the little ones on this plant the past week. If you come close she kicks her feet and they all run and get behind the leaves.
Me: I have no idea but they're creepy. Pretty sure I saw them in "Men In Black"
Biggest: I don't wanna get rid of them because she's been taking such good care of them..
Yeah....that's my girl...
My Middlest? Sends art.
And also that's she's very proud to be promoted to Manager at the restaurant she works for. A slightly less starving artist now. And she has a strong desire to be 'in charge.' Though it's always been a thought at the back of my mind that, as a passive aggressive control freak, it's a possibility that letting go and breaking out of her tendency to underachieve might ultimately result in World Domination.
We'll see what happens... Oh and she's engaged......
cause yeah..that's my girl...
And no matter what they have met with in life it has become apparent that, My Littlest is still a curmudgeon with a great sense of humor and a filthy mouth. My Biggest is still the caretaker of all the creatures of the world and my Mid, is still my Middlest, truly, some things never change : )

Yesterday
Yesterday I was awash in daughters. Phone calls, texts. Even an in person visit. They poured over me the whole day through. overlapping in their quest for my attention. My answers. My opinions. They filled my head and overflowed my ears. a chaotic babble of need. They drain me sometimes. Others they stuff me so full it's like a ten course meal. From early morning to bedtime, dings and rings and knocks at the door. Mom. Mom. Mom. Even now that they're grown. How deeply what is left of me, logged and dripping, heavy with the weight of their worlds secured in my heart, how deeply the tiny piece of ME inside, still loves to hear that word. Mom.
Happy Mothers Day Moms!

For My Littlest As She Endures the USMC Crucible
PSALM 18: 28-36
19 Hours Behind You. 35 Hours To Go. 8 hours sleep out of 54. 3 MRE meals total.
As you hike through the darkness tonight I look up at the same stars from miles away and hold you in my heart. God Bless You and Give You Strength and Keep You Safe.
UPDATE:
And she walks out of the woods Saturday at 7 AM after 54 hours as a US Marine. : )

I Miss My Daughter
I miss my baby. I'm so proud of her and have so much respect for her but I'm sitting here crying looking at the little Christmas stamps she's still using on her letters. She wants Christmas dinner when she gets home. It was the first year I didn't have all my kids here and God knows how long it will be before it happens again. I supported her through every step she has taken to get where she is. I am behind her all the way and sending her positive "Good Job-You Can Do It" letters. But this sucks. We have less than 3 weeks left and I feel like crying my eyes out. So I am. Because my Littlest girl will be gone for a long time with just short visits. We only get 10 days before she leaves again. I'm excited about her graduation and praying and pulling for her every moment these last weeks. The crucible is the end of next week and my every thought is for her completing it safely and becoming a Marine. I can't wait to hear her voice telling me she has earned The Eagle Globe and Anchor. But right this minute I'm so sad and miss her so much I just want to curl up and keen. I miss my daughter.
