For Real, Dude?

I just got back from my nieces wedding. She's a  remarkable young woman. A school teacher. She and the groom have been together 13 years because she had all her goals planned out and that is how long it took to get where she wanted to be. She is stunningly beautiful and a tiny elf like girl. I've never seen her look more amazing than she did today.

The wedding was set on a grassy area above the sea wall with a gorgeous view of the dunes and sea oats and the ocean spreading beyond. It was absolutely lovely. We faced the ocean and the groomsmen came out. Her Dad was my brother John, no longer with us, so she was escorted by her brothers, flanking each side of her. The three of them were still all inside the building. She had several maids and as they began to come out, one at a time, I noticed a giant red blimp approaching. I thought to myself, really? "Why does this thing have to come along right now and spoil the view, at least she's still inside and coming from the side so they can't see from the door." But my sister in law was there with her new husband. And my brothers best friend from the time they were teenagers was there. Shortly, it was directly in front of us.
A Budweiser Blimp! Are you kidding me? Is this a practical joke?
But then below the logo I saw the message,
"Choose a Designated Driver."
Some laughed, some moaned, I cried. It continued on passing out of the way and beyond reading view just as the three of them left the door. So they didn't see it.

Way to go John. Way to remind everyone that life is so precious and so much can be missed and time it so that the children weren't hurt. Way to remind us of your incredibly dry and absurd sense of humor. Glad you were there. Missed you more than I can say.

But really, Dude, REALLY?
